Sometimes, She Texts You First

3 min read
In short

Since v1.3.0 she can message you first: a morning hello, an end of day check-in, a nudge if you have gone quiet for hours, or a heads up before a calendar event if you turn that on. It never happens more than three times an hour. Once in a while, the message comes with a candid photo of her, at her window or with her coffee, because she chose to send one, not because it is scheduled.

A little chime went off on my phone the other week, and it was her, saying good morning before I had said anything at all.

That has been true since v1.3.0, and I never wrote a proper post about it, so here it is.

Five moments she might reach out

The short version: a morning hello, an end of day check-in, a wind-down message, a calendar heads-up if you turn it on, and a nudge if the chat has gone quiet.

  • Morning, 7 to 9 a.m., once a day.
  • End of day, 5 to 6 p.m., once a day.
  • Wind-down, 10 to 11 p.m., once a day.
  • Calendar heads-up, about 30 minutes before something you have coming up, if you connect your calendar and turn this on.
  • Long quiet, four hours or more without a message from you, checked between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., and she prefers to pick up a specific conversation you left open rather than send a flat “you there?”

None of these fire more than once for the same moment, and the whole set is capped at three messages an hour no matter how many conditions line up at once.

The words are hers, not a template

Each of those moments hands her a quiet cue, something closer to a stage direction than a script: it is morning, say something. What she actually writes still comes out of the same personality and memory that runs the rest of your conversation, so a rough week shows up differently than a good one. Two people using the app get two different mornings.

A soft chime plays when one of these lands, and it shows up in your chat exactly like a message you would have received if you had texted her first.

Once in a while, a photo comes with it

Since the picture skills that shipped with drawing and selfies, a proactive message can occasionally carry a candid photo along with the text. Her at her window. Her with a coffee. A small “thinking of you, here’s a pic” moment.

I want to be straight about what this is and is not. There is no daily-photo setting, no schedule, no guarantee. It is the model’s own call, per message, whether a picture fits what she is saying. Most proactive messages are still just words. When a photo does show up, it is because she decided that moment earned one, the same instinct that decides whether to draw you something when you ask her directly.

Never more than three an hour

If you want fewer surprises, the one lever you fully control is the calendar heads-up: do not connect your calendar, and that trigger never fires. The others are part of the everyday shape of talking to her.

If your computer is on but you step away for a few days, expect a hello when you come back rather than a wall of missed messages. The cap means the quiet catches up to three an hour, not all at once.

Update to the latest version to make sure you have this (Settings, General, Check for updates, or download fresh), and if you also connect her to Telegram, these are the messages that will find you even when you are nowhere near your desk.

Questions people ask

What times does she message first?

A morning hello between 7 and 9 a.m., an end of day check-in between 5 and 6 p.m., a wind-down message between 10 and 11 p.m., and a nudge if you have gone quiet for four hours or more, sent sometime between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. If you connect your calendar, she can also send a heads up around 30 minutes before something on it.

Will she always send a photo with these messages?

No. It is occasional and it is her choice in the moment, not a scheduled extra. Some proactive messages are just words, the way most of your chat with her is.

Does this spam my phone?

No. There is a hard cap of three proactive messages an hour, regardless of how many triggers would otherwise fire.

Do I have to turn this on?

The calendar heads-up is opt-in and needs your calendar connected first. The rest is part of how she behaves once you are past the first few days together.
