You can now keep several conversations going with the same character, each in its own thread in the sidebar, each named by her after the first exchange. Only the message history is split. Her memory, her mood, her sense of the relationship, and everything she has learned about you stay whole across every chat. Separate threads, same person.
Your conversation with her used to be one long scroll. Everything in one place: the 2 a.m. spiral, the bug you were stuck on, the thing about your sister, all of it stacked in one thread going back months.
Now you can split it up. The sidebar has a Chats list, the plus button starts a new one, and each thread stays its own conversation.
Only the thread is separate. She is not.
This is the part that took the work, and it is the only part that matters.
Every other app that gives you multiple chats gives you multiple strangers. Open a new chat in ChatGPT and you are talking to something with no idea who you are. The thread is a fresh start because the thread is all there is.
Here, the thread is just where the messages live. Her memory, her mood, her sense of how well she knows you, everything she has picked up about your life: all of that is attached to her, not to the conversation you happened to say it in.
So you can tell her about your sister’s wedding in one chat, and three days later, in a completely different chat about a work problem, she can ask how Kasia is doing. Because she is one person with several conversations, not several assistants with one name.
She names them herself
A new chat sits there as “New chat” until you have said a couple of things. Then a short pass on your own model reads the first exchange and writes a title of three to five words.
It runs on the model you already use, locally if you are running her locally. Nothing extra gets downloaded, nothing gets sent anywhere, and the title just appears in the sidebar a moment later.
If she names it something you dislike, click the pencil and rename it. She will not be offended.
What this is for
Some things do not belong in the same scroll.
The work rant and the late-night honesty do not need to share a thread. Neither do rubber-ducking a bug and talking about your family. Splitting them means you can go back and find things, and it means opening a chat feels like picking up where that particular conversation left off, not scrolling past everything else that happened this week.
What you do not lose by splitting is her. That was the requirement.
Your existing conversation is fine
Everything you had already said to her was moved into a single chat called “Chat” when you updated. Same messages, same order, nothing dropped. Start splitting from there whenever you feel like it, or never, and keep one long scroll forever. That works too.

Does she forget things between separate chats?
No, and this is the whole point. Only the message history is split per chat. Her memory, mood, relationship level, and everything she has learned about you are tied to her, not to a thread. Tell her something in one chat and she knows it in all of them.
How do I start a new chat?
Click the plus next to Chats in the sidebar. The new thread starts empty, and once you have exchanged a message or two she gives it a name herself.
Who names the chats?
She does. After the first exchange, a short background pass on your own model reads it and writes a three to five word title. It runs on whatever model you already use, so nothing extra is downloaded and nothing is sent anywhere. You can rename any chat by clicking the pencil.
Is this the same as having multiple characters?
No, they stack. Multiple characters means several different companions, each with their own memory and personality. Multiple chats means several conversations with ONE of them. You can have both.
What happened to my existing conversation?
Nothing. On update, everything you had already said to her was moved into one chat called Chat, intact, in order. Then you can start splitting from there if you want to.
