Configure Cloud AI
Connect your own cloud AI provider and understand what leaves your PC.
Follow the bold button names and numbered steps. Technical names are included only when you need to recognize a model or file inside the app.
Cloud AI uses your own provider account or API key. Local Waifu does not convert provider usage into a Local Waifu subscription; the provider may bill your account directly.
Add a provider
Goal
Connect a cloud provider and select a hosted model.
Before you start
- Review the provider’s pricing, data handling, and model access.
- Have a valid key or supported connected-account login.
- Turn off Offline Mode only when you intentionally want cloud use.
Steps
- Open Settings → Cloud AI or the connected-account section under Models.
- Select the provider.
- Paste the key into the password field or complete the supported login.
- Test the connection.
- Browse the provider’s available models.
- Select the model for chat, images, speech recognition, or voice output as appropriate.
- Send a short test.
Expected result
Requests for the selected role use the provider. Local character and memory storage remains on the computer.
Privacy note
The selected prompt, relevant conversation context, image, audio, or text leaves the computer when required by that cloud operation. Do not use a cloud route for information you do not want to send to that provider.
