Check the installed version and edition clues

Goal

Collect the information support needs and verify an update.

Before you start

Know whether you installed Local Waifu from the Direct download or a Store/Unlocked channel. The presence of Settings → License is a useful clue: Direct shows it; Store/Unlocked does not.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → About.
  2. Read the number shown after Version.
  3. Note your operating system and whether Settings → License is present.
  4. If reporting a model or voice issue, also note the active model names.
  5. If requested, save a Diagnostics report, review it, redact private details, and attach it privately.

Expected result

You have the app version, platform, edition clue, reproduction steps, exact error text, and a reviewed diagnostic file if needed.

If something goes wrong

If About cannot load, include the installer filename or download channel and state that the version screen was unavailable. Do not reset the app merely to retrieve a version number.

The About screen also identifies Local Waifu as local-first and private by design, provides the AI disclosure, lists open-source components, and links to Privacy and Terms. The GitHub button is shown only where appropriate for the distribution edition.

When contacting support, include:

  1. Local Waifu version.
  2. macOS or Windows version.
  3. Direct or Store/Unlocked edition.
  4. What you expected and what happened.
  5. Exact steps that reproduce the issue.
  6. The exact error message.
  7. Relevant model/provider names, without API keys or tokens.
  8. A reviewed and redacted diagnostics report when useful.

Never send a license key, Telegram bot token, provider API key, unreviewed diagnostics report, or private conversation export in a public channel.
